Over our 25 + years in practice, we have seen far too many kids (and adults) affected by trauma to the head and neck, resulting in TBI, or Traumatic Brain Injury. Looking past the acute (new) symptoms, many of them continue to deal with a Post Concussive Syndrome (PCS) many years after their injury.
This was unacceptable to us especially when solutions exist to prevent many of these issues.
Because of these types of injuries to our community and practice members, we decided to do something about it. Over the past 5 years, Dr. Gina and myself have been working on a prototype to completely revise the contact sports helmet, starting with football. Our design is a complete departure from what’s “always been done” and will dramatically change the way we see contact sports for our kids. The geometric complexity is designed as such so that massive amounts of rotational and linear force are dissipated before it reaches the head. This reduces motion of the neck and head and therefore, motion of the brain.
Our technology is proprietary and patented. We have completed initial finite testing with our partner institution, Wichita State University, and are actively fundraising to move into tooling and final testing. We will post photos and results as they become available..
Football is about to get much safer and we are very proud to be at the forefront of this change.
